I just had the most wonderful calm sunday the past few weeks have been very busy for me workwise so I really appreciate a day like today. I was sitting in Progressive Grounds in Bernal (my latest favorite neighborhood) reading 2 books, Kavalier and Clay (for fun) and Wikinomics (for edification). Then these musicians started filtering in and playing bluegrass in a corner (2 banjos, a guitar and an incredible fiddle player.) It was such a feel-good serendipity moment.
But then, I walked across the street to Dog Eared Books and there was a DIFFERENT bluegrass band playing there. That's the point where you have to start wondering... what is it with Bernal and Bluegrass?
And speaking of Dogs, there were alot of those, accompanied by people with baby strollers. Bernal is already getting to be like..... Noe Valley. With Bluegrass Bands.
But no fear, a few blocks away and you're in a different world. I went over to my Gym, the Potrero Center 24 Hour Fitness, which is by far my most favorite of all the 24 hour fitness centers in SF. If you bring your gym clothes in a plastic bag, you'll fit right in. Sometimes it seems that people are doing their laundry in the hot tub. Tonight, no joke, as I was swimming laps, the woman in the lane next to me was jogging in place .... wearing sweats and sneakers. In the pool. Sneakers.
I guess the water at 24 hour fitness is the microbial equivalent of the font page of a newspaper. It lets you get quickly caught up on all the latest goings-on in the microbial and even the viral world. Think of it as the Water-Borne Illness Gazette.
By keeping my immune system better informed of all the latest developments, I hope to live a longer, happier, and more interesting life.
