So I've officially finished my first week at hi5. Although I've been working with the executive team for some time, it has been great to get to know the rest of the organization. There are so many talented, dedicated and interesting people at all levels of the company.
One of the interesting things in week 1 has been our PR efforts. Akash Garg spoke on a panel at the GigaOM Structure 08 event (see grainy iphone picture). The topic was the infrastructure demands of explosive user growth, and his co-panelists included people from Yahoo, eBay, Facebook, Meebo, and Slide. The room was packed with probably 200+ audience members. Event details: http://events.gigaom.com/structure/08/schedule/
Also last week, Anil Dharni spoke on a panel at the Voice Peering Forum. Co-panelists included Google Open Social, Plaxo, and Friendster, and the session was moderated by Charlene Li from Forrester, one of the more influential industry analysts on social media. Then, today, we announced our acquisition of PixVerse, and have gotten substantial coverage in the major tech and venture capital media. See our release at http://www.hi5networks.com/prs/0630080.html
Lots of activity, and lots to tell the world about all the great things we're doing at hi5!
