what does "in terms of frequency" mean ? today frequency isn't that important when comparing cpu's with completly different arhitectures ... in terms of brute force performance in theory the strongest cpu's are the ones with the most cores... Curently IBM's Cell that powers the PS3 has no more no less than 8 cores ... Also Intel's Nehalem is comming soon and even if it will have 4 cores it can process 2 threads per cycle meaning 4 cores hardware + 4 virtual cores ... Nehalem with 8 cores is due in 2009 ... Amd's Phenom should also be mentioned as it has a very powerfull floating point calculation unit (better than intel) but is inferior in performance in every day computing and games and also runs at much lower frequencyes (
<2.66 ghz)
