I guess I am happy with the results of the Batticaloa elections, Just as I hoped for the EPDP and Pillayan didn’t go all out war trying to show who was the better stooge of Mr. Mahinda, and run a rampage in down town Batti. As for the results I guess Ranil, Hakeem, Sitdarthan and Douglas. Have already done more than I could ever ask for in showing how democratic it was. All that remains is to wait till out Liberators the LTTE come and rescue us from this great evil that has fallen over Batti.

If you really love your community, what you should have done is to encourage this democratic step (even with certain desagreements).

If you think eastern people really like LTTE, why don’t they form a party & send their agents to see whether people vote them. This will give a big advantage even for their military plans.

I personally don’t like Pilleyan or Karuna fractions since they too carry weapons & any time they to could use them for their power. UNP is not having any stable policy these days because different people within the party work for different agendas. I personally think, there is no big theoretic background for refusing the election, but leadership is simply scared to participate & show their lack of votes in those areas. If they fail to get sufficient number of votes, it will make them really naked.

- If LTTE didn’t steal the funds & grains sent to affected areas (pl check the photos of Kokkadicholei camp which was overrun by SL forces, bunkers had been made by the grain packs donated to civil community!)

- If LTTE didn’t put their supporters to NGO’s & steel their resources (Save the children, Unicef & etc.)

- If LTTE let government officials to do their rehabilitation work in those areas
