for me friendship is trust and somone to share ideas and time with. Real Friens is not easy to find, so we must take care about it when we find a real friend.

My definition on Friendship is about commitment, loyality, honesty, feeling comfortable, trusting one another's needs, and feelings and not constantly having the conscious need to determine whether it is is truthful, as you know deep within yourself it is most of the time correct.
It takes beneficial listening skills, courage to defend one another's needs who someone else tries to attack them. Improving on areas which need areas of improvement, by doing spending time together constructively working on matters, respecting one another's needs. Being in there times of great difficulty and overcoming obstacles. Having totally different views, where both people have the understanding to learn from one another, or disagree but do not take it so personally.

viewing the friendship in a scientific way, its like ur allie in the social world, because we always have ur enimies. friendship is hard to explain by scientific methods xD lol i was trying to that, simply too much concept :P

One simple test of friendship is when the happiness of the friend is more important than your own. When you find yourself always wanting to give the best of everything to your friend, you know you have true feelings of friendship. I don't agree with you Tree ! It sounds a little too much "churchy" for me, I grew up with catholic education and so and don't like the idea of self depreciation for others.
Happiness of my friends is important, sure. If I can help I do. When then need me to hear, I do. I feel happiness or pain if they do. If I can offer something I do. I can't do all because my friends have to live themselves their own lifes, as I have to. If I am in troubles I know I can ask, and we are happy when we share something in commun.
I just describe. I don't find it usefull to define.
