Hmm, so why not download the latest debian stable from debian.org? Woody and potatoe is not supported anymore, etch is current.

If you say so. Personally I have Debian Etch installed on a AMD K6 300 Mhz (with 2.4 kernel iirc).

This version (http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownload/Debian-GNU-Linux-Etch-Download-10816.html) is good? What do you think about it? If your answer is 'YES' how many cds must be downloaded? ------------------------ - I am a beginer in Linux. - ------------------------ I would like to have KDE Desktop.

If you have a steady Internet/wired connection you can try the "netinst" cd. It downloads everything you need and you can install anything from a single cd. http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/4.0_r3/i386/iso-cd/debian-40r3-i386-netinst.iso
But otherwise I think you can manage with just the first cd. http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/4.0_r3/i386/iso-cd/debian-40r3-i386-CD-1.iso
Debian is well documented so I recommend you to start reading the documentation if you are new to Linux. You'll for instance find official installation guide on this page: http://www.debian.org/doc/
